The Future of AI Summit’s pre-event webinar convened a global online audience from across the AI ecosystem for a panel discussion on how AI technologies are reshaping interactions within the workplace and daily life. Expertly moderated by the FT’s AI Editor Madhumita Murgia, this panel discussion explored the positive and negative implications of GenAI on people and society.
Key topics covered:
- What are the unseen impacts of GenAI and how is it affecting employment, education, and access to information?
- Can GenAI be harnessed to bridge the digital divide and empower marginalised groups?
- How can businesses and society proactively address the potential risks of GenAI, such as job displacement, misinformation, and algorithmic biases?
EMEA's M&A landscape shows tentative signs of recovery in 2024. Despite lingering macroeconomic concerns and elevated interest rates, dealmakers are expressing cautious optimism that the coming months could bring renewed momentum. EMEA has experienced a surge in deal activity compared to last year. Going forward, private equity firms, armed with substantial dry powder, as well as financial hubs like the UK, fuelled by attractive valuations, are expected to play significant roles in revitalising M&A.
This webinar, organised by the Financial Times in partnership with Datasite, convened dealmakers to explore M&A activity and trends in the EMEA region. The focus of the webinar was on the opportunities and challenges that will be faced by dealmakers in 2025.
Key topics covered:
- What impact will the broader macroeconomic conditions, such as inflation and interest rates, have on the pace and sustainability of M&A recovery in EMEA?
- Which sectors beyond the already identified high-growth areas are expected to see increased M&A activity in the coming months?
- Will the resurgence of M&A activity in the UK, driven by attractive valuations on the London market, continue throughout 2024 and beyond?
