Dead cat bounce

A temporary and small movement upwards in share prices after a large fall, often before they start to fall again

Example usage from an FT article:

After a shocking April and woeful start to May, markets have staged a pretty spectacular rally to (mostly) end the month in green. Is this a sign of things turning or a proverbial dead cat bounce?
